Tackle It Tuesday: A Coupon Mess

It happens to the best of us.

Whether you organize your coupons in a little index card box (like mine), a binder booklet or you use Grandma’s file system (because that’s the way it has ALWAYS been done) – sooner or later, your dining room table will look like this.

It.Just.Happens.

I have been using my little green coupon box for a few years now; it has been perfect and simple for organizing my coupons each week. Clip, file, clip, file. Done, each week in the blink of an eye.

Now – it seems like I have TWICE (maybe more) the amount of coupons, bombarding me from every direction. Not only do I have my own, but I get tons of mailers, All You Magazine, PLUS my generous mother in law saves BOTH of her Sunday coupon inserts for me on a weekly basis.

Methinks I need a new system.

Some of you use file folders. Others use a binder system. Some of you, do not even cut out your coupons – instead, you file the inserts by date. So many options! If you are trying to choose the very BEST option, don’t be overwhelmed. The best filing system out there, is the one that works for YOU. Oh, and by the way, the throw-your-coupons-in-your-purse-and-find-them-a-year-later method NEVER works. Stop trying it.

While at BlogHer this past summer, I received a card that advertised at product called “The Couponizer.” I thought, hmmm…I wonder what THIS is all about. Well, guess what? Amy Bergin generously sent me one to review! Since I just received it yesterday, I haven’t yet been able to “put it to the test” of my mad coupon shopping skills.

So, here is the deal. I’m going to use this system for the next week. After that, I’ll be back here letting you know exactly what worked and didn’t work (hopefully nothing!) for my particular shopping adventures. And maybe, just maybe, I’ll have one to give away to you!

Stay tuned!
